Our electronic waste gives the Egyptian Pyramids a run for their money

The average U.S. resident produces 66 pounds of electronics waste per year accordign to a new UN analysis. This is just slightly less than the 70 pounds per capita we add to our lives every year.

According to Dan Shapley's article, the UN estimates by 2017, world volumes will be expected to be 33 percent higher than 2012. The equivalent weight of eight Great Egyptian Pyramids.

The UN report also included a map which allows viewers to compare electronics consumed and discarded by country, as well as regulations that govern the use and disposal of electronics.

There are opportunities to recycle electronic waste in your community, check with local waste haulers for options and watch out for hazardous waste disposal options.
