Geoengineering='Climate Hacking'

 In this article I found, the author discusses a chief idea of geoengineering--solar radiation management--and its disadvantages. He writes that this is essentially to mimic volcanoes and produce more ash in the sky to reflect solar radiation away from the earth. My first instinct against this plan is that we don't need to necessarily reduce our intake of energy form the sun--all the studies we've talked about suggested a normal pattern of energy intake from the sun that wasn't causing extreme global warming. What caused it were human activities releasing more carbon dioxide into the air. Consequently, we'd need to reduce our own CO2 production.

But this article looks at issues like how this "solution" only addresses one part of climate change (global warming) and not all parts (like ocean acidification), and that even if we did follow through, if we ever stopped there'd be an increased amount of CO2 in the atmosphere with no atmospheric sunblock, and the earth would have "warming catch up", which would be difficult to adjust to. Essentially, it's a bad idea. Check out the article for more info/opinion.
