You do
not have to drive the stereotypical boxcar to get good gas mileage. I will be
comparing to very good examples of an alternative to the Econo Box.
· Around town the Volkswagen Jetta TDI
Clean Diesel gets 31 mpg and the Jetta Hybrid gets 42 mpg.
· On the highway the TDI gets 46 mpg
and the Hybrid gets a staggering 48 mpg.
· When it comes down to the
performance the Hybrids 1.4L engine is no match the TDI’s 2.0L turbo charged
engine.
· When I compared the prices I found
that the TDI starts at about $22,000 while the Hybrid starts at around $28,000
I may be
slightly bias because my mom own a Volkswagen Jetta TDI, but I think cost wise
and performance wise the TDI model is a better overall choice. But both models
are cost effective ways to break the mold of the basic fuel-efficient car.
