Phosphate being removed from laundry detergents globally

Procter and Gamble, the Tide manufacturer, aims to eliminate phosphates from all its laundry soaps within two years. This move will benefit the environment, especially those in developing countries.

Already the company has stopped using phosphates in laundry detergent sold in the US and in Europe, but the countries that will see the greatest impact are developing countries that have no regulations on limiting phosphates in detergents.

The company says it is a win-win when consumers get a better product that is also environmentally friendlier.
