Renewable energy in Spain

"Spain's largest wind turbine, Arinaga, a five megawatt, 505-foot tall, is pictured at the end of a dike on Gran Canaria in the Spanish archipelago of the Canary Islands on Oct. 20, 2013.

Spain's use of renewable energy sources grew in 2013. They used 20.9 percent wind energy to power the country. This, plus their use of nuclear power resulted in a 23 percent reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Here is the article courtesy of Al Jazeera. The article also warns of how Spain's unstable economic state could have a negative effect on the country's dependance on renewable energy. Government subsidies seem to have been invaluable to their development of the renewables.

I wonder if or when the US will chose to subsidize renewable energy.
